Medical Director

Dr. Shawn Monken

Dr. Shawn Monken, a proud Orphan, was born and raised in Centralia. After graduating from Centralia High School, she attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate degree. While studying there, she met her husband, Dr. Kent Hartmann. Together, they graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After graduation, the Hartmanns traveled to California and then to Missouri to begin their careers as veterinarians. Missing their family, the Hartmanns decided to open their own practice in October 1992, with a new location launched in 2006. To avoid confusion with two Dr. Hartmanns working together, Dr. Shawn became known to her patients as Dr. Monken. Dr. Monken currently has one Bullmastiff and two children. She enjoys traveling, horseback riding, and fitness classes. You’ll also seldom find her without a Diet Coke in hand.

While Dr. Stover sees all pets, her passion is cats. You’ll also often find her saving a bug from being squashed or moving a turtle out of harm's way in the road.

Dr. Stover has 3 children, 1 dogs, 2 farm dogs, many barn cats, multiple ducks, chickens, geese, a horse and usually a bottle baby kitten in the bathtub. She enjoys traveling to look for cool rocks, crafting and CrossFit in her spare time.
